Pumpkins Week

We started out Pumpkins Week by learning about all the different parts of a pumpkin. We looked at the inside of a pumpkin, tasted pumpkin seeds, and used a can of pumpkin to make the best cookies ever!

Our list of ingredients includes...one box of spice cake mix, and one small can of pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix).

That's it!

We dumped the cake mix in our bowl.

And a little on the counter.
And added in the can of pumpkin.

And we all took turns stirring.

And stirring.
And singing.

And stirring.

We ate the dough, scooped it on the cookie sheet, and baked them up
(at 375 for 15 minutes, in case you were wondering)

Then we ate them all!
We spent time working at the table this week.

And playing with little pumpkins.

Keen figured out that he could make a bridge and reach all the way across the entry.

Morgan tried it, too.

But the best thing we did all week was take our annual field trip to
the Pumpkin Patch in Snowflake.
Here we are in the corn maze. We had to answer questions to figure out if we should go right or left and a bell told us if we were correct.

There were about 15 questions and we lost interest after Question Four
and just had fun running through the maze.

They gave us each a string and we got to pick any pumpkin that was smaller around than our string. We had fun measuring.

Looking for pumpkins...

Inspecting (and rejecting)

Carrying and switching

Watching and thinking

All of the pumpkin patch kids walking down the aisles between rows of pumpkins.

Morgan's victory dance.
"Raise your hands if you like the Pumpkin Patch!"
Taking a break, all of us together. Caiden's dad came along and he took this picture (he's in the brown jacket walking down the aisle picture--thanks for coming with us, Kevin!)

Victorious Eastyn!

It was a great week! Thanks to everyone for being great obeyers on our field trip--we will definitely go somewhere together again.
