It was the perfect week to talk about Wind and Weather..because we had lots of BOTH!!
Every year as spring approaches, wind is the defining characteristic here at our house. Thanks, huge empty field behind us! But this week we got sunshine AND snow, too. It could not have been better.
We started off the snack week with suns...
...and clouds.
We read "It Looked Like Spilt Milk" and then made our own clouds. We spooned a little paint,
folded the sky shut,
and opened it to see what our cloud looked like!
Eastyn's turn. The Tongue of Concentration making an appearance...
Noah K, the careful pourer.
Noah, the Fast Craft Worker.

We got to spend a couple minutes outside before we froze to death. We were there to shoot off rocket balloons and see what they did in the wind!
Karsyn letting her rocket balloon go...
See it way up there???
Jake's orange balloon.
Friends playing Pirates.
Friends playing "Mystery Garden".
Making clouds.
The pure joy of watching glue fall.
Careful concentration.

Having "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" for snack.

Working on our names.

Making kites!

All our clouds displayed beautifully.
One funny story:
Eastyn was really certain that his cloud was a dancing bunny. I try to always let them decide what they look like. After I wrote it and he went back to the toy room to play, Karsyn came up and looked at Eastyn's cloud.

Eastyn was really certain that his cloud was a dancing bunny. I try to always let them decide what they look like. After I wrote it and he went back to the toy room to play, Karsyn came up and looked at Eastyn's cloud.
She and I had the following conversation:
Karsyn: Whose picture is that?
Ms. Jana: Eastyn's.
K: What did he say it looked like?
MJ: A dancing bunny.
K (slightly haughty): Hmmm. Looks more like a dancing squirrel to me.
Exit stage left.
