OK, here's how it happened.
We started out by reading "The Gingerbread Man" and thought it would be fun to try making our own gingerbread men. So we made the dough, rolled it out, and started cutting.

We put them in the oven and set the timer.

When we went back to check on them, THEY WERE GONE!

We noticed some clues of flour and gingerbread dough and started looking for them.

Following the trail to the door.

Flour and dough on the floor.

Dough on the door handle.
Checking outside the door.

Running and calling the gingerbread men.

Finding gingerbread tracks on the preschool playground.
We spent the rest of the week gathering letters and emails from friends and family that saw our gingerbread men. We tracked them on our map of the world (amazing how far they went!). I've got more pictures in next week's post, but here's some other fun stuff we did during this week:
Making gingerbread cookies didn't work out so well, but we made gingerbread men ornaments out of the amazing dough created from equal parts applesauce and cinnamon with a smidge of glue added in.
We rolled out and cut them just like the cookies, but these guys didn't have to bake. We just let them dry for a couple days and then we hung them on our Christmas tree!

We also played with playdough. It's been a long time since we got do to that!

During snack times, we had bagel wreaths (although green cream cheese turned a couple kids off to the whole idea...)
Brooke and Bailey playing with one of our 28 nativities.
Making christmas tree sandwiches.

Finding ourselves on our tree ornaments.

Eating reindeer chow (pretzels, craisins, shredded wheat squares, and m&ms)

Keen's amazing show-and-tell

Eastyn's different but also amazing show-and-tell.

Can't wait to see what happens next week with our gingerbread men!
