I put on a carnival-themed wedding reception this past weekend, which is my only excuse for getting our Transportation Week pictures up so late! Wanna see?
Here's a couple shots of what we did (the plane has a banner that says "Just Married" which was one of our favorite details of this wedding).

And we really did serve cotton candy, shaved ice, and popcorn...along with more traditional reception food. These pennants were my favorite decoration of all.

OK--back to the important stuff...here's our week in pictures...Transportation-style!
One of my favorite preschool messes of all time is washable tempera paint. Even just the smell reminds me of doing this with my mom when I was a kid. Any powdered tempera paint mixed with straight dish soap makes paint that comes out of anything! It is cheap, easy to clean, and smells great. So with few exceptions through the year, this is how we paint in preschool!

We put on our painting shirts and splattered paint on our papers. Then we used Hot Wheels cars to drive through the paint. The wheels left an awesome track and it felt so neat to drive through the soapy paint.

Morgan trying to make all his paper brown by mixing the colors.

Noah kept his colors more separated on his page.

Caiden loved that it painted the bottom of the car a different color entirely.

And we started out on our papers...and ended up all over the whole table! It was super fun.

Then we had a car wash for all the cars.

Eastyn dug his out and re-rinsed it about 14 times (I think he'd have to pay extra for that at the car wash).

Karsyn was NOT going to be left out...tippy toes and all!

Clean and shiny cars!

Sometimes I feel that I live a charmed life. Transportation Week started on Tuesday and that afternoon, a friend called and asked if I'd like a "ramp mountain for little cars". Uh, yes. Her kids had outgrown it and she dropped it off that night and we have been playing with it ever since! It's perfect for our newly-cleaned Hot Wheels cars. And thanks to Ashli for sharing it with us.

Down the ramp they go.

Making a diorama of transportation--some things go in the air, on the land, or in the sea. And sometimes it's fun to put all the stickers in the same spot.

Rafe, such concentration!

Eastyn's plane is in the sky and his boats are in the water...but I think they might be sinking.

It was a super week of reading, running, vrooming, and singing. Our favorite songs were "Mr. Peanut" (poor guy, once that train came he didn't stand a chance!) and "Hurry, hurry, drive the firetruck" (which we loved to sing again and again and again, just faster this time). We ate wheels (bread circles with cheese), traffic lights (red, yellow, and green jell-o circles on a graham cracker), and transportation pasta (mmmm...Lightning McQueen). It was a great week!
