Snow and Ice Week definitely did NOT disappoint! It was super snowy AND icy. Hooray for us.
Also, it was beyond slushy in my driveway. I have not ventured around the back half of the circle driveway, but some braver (and larger-vehicled) parents have braved what I've started calling "The Lake".
We're hoping for more weather like we've been having--perfect for NOT cancelling school!
Here's what our week looked like:
A long-standing tradition here at Sixth Street Preschool includes the making of the traditional apple igloo.
Apple halves, cored & rinsed in lemon juice (because who wants to eat a brown apple?)
Apples covered in frosting "glue" and marshmallows piled on the plates. In this picture are Karsyn and our special Tuesday guest. Eastyn's older brother's school was still cancelled due to water damage so Ely hung out with us and was my helper for the day. He's a second-grader with the distinction of being one of my very first Show Low preschoolers! He was so fun to have here back when he was a little guy AND he was so fun to have here for the day. Thanks for all your help, Ely!
Back to igloos--stacking our marshmallow "ice blocks".

tasting...

We made a blizzard inside our classroom with snowflakes. I really love to see how these kids get the hang of cutting and being so careful (only one minor band-aid tragedy for the day).

Noah loved how the spaces looked like jets!
Eating cauliflower "snowballs" dipped in ranch. Yum!
When I was a kid, my mom always said "If you didn't get dirty, it means you didn't have fun." Check out what kind of a BLAST we had here...
Desi demonstrates the proper way to shoot straw fragments.
Everyone cutting (blizzard in the background!)
Total concentration.
Making igloos with glue & marshmallows

Making snow paintings. We first colored with white crayon and then painted with watercolors over the top...and you could TOTALLY see our snow paintings!

The perfect end to a perfect week--Noah K brought Sidney for Show & Tell. She was a very obedient dog with one bad habit (licking...yuck!). But we got really good at using our "daddy voice" to tell her "NO LICKING!"

And she sure loved every second of the attention!

Have a great weekend--February is just about here. Whoa!
